ALBERT TIONG

ALBERT TIONG

Albert graduated from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts on a scholarship in 1996. He was a professional dancer with Cloud Gate Dance Theatre of Taiwan before becoming a guest artist with Hong Kong Dance Company in 2000. From 2000 to 2003, he was principal dancer with the local Odyssey Dance Theatre. Albert was the Singapore representative for World Dance Alliance Asia-Pacific Dance Bridge 2007 Artist Showcase, where he choreographed and performed his solo, Heart Sutra.

Commissioned to create Checkmate for Esplanade da:ns Festival 2008 under its Artist Residency programme, Albert was also the guest choreographer for Singapore Management University Arts Festival 2009, where Contrary was presented.

Currently, he is the Resident Choreographer of Frontier Danceland and a lecturer at LASALLE-SIA College of the Arts and Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts. He created Self Scan for Singapore Arts Festival – Arts on the Move 2007, and was one of the choreographers for the company’s 02 SQUARE studio dance performance series.

XU JIE

Xu Jie graduated with a Diploma in Teaching (Dance) from the Shanghai Teachersí University, China. He received a scholarship to study at LASELLE-SIA College of the Arts (2001-2004). He was the guest choreographer of Theatre Arts Troupe (2001-2003) and performed in Singapore Dance Theatre’s The Nutcracker and Madame Butterfly. A recipient of the first Asia Pacific Scholarship (2003) from the Commonwealth Society of Teachers of Dancing (CSTD), this is Xu Jie’s first time choreographing for INDANCITY. He is also currently the codirector of Le Grand School of Dance.

FILOMAR CORTEZANO TARIAO

Fil is more known for his sold out one-man act Imeldaís Boys produced by Action Theatre. As a dancer of the Gus Giordano Jazz Dance Chicago, Fil has performed in Dance Chicago, for the Chicago Dance Masters Association, RiverDance 2002 Concert. He has assisted in Master Classes for the company in the International Jazz Congress.

Fil’s experience includes working with international choreographers like Randy Duncan, Davis Robertson (Joffrey Ballet), and Csaba Buday (HKAPA). Back in Philippines, Fil joined Ballet Philippinesís production of Darna and started teaching for the company. He joined De La Salle University thereafter.

He is a full scholar alumnus of the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts, with a Professional Diploma in Modern Dance. He has performed with the Hong Kong Ballet Group – Cinderella and other companies in Hong Kong.
