Dan Koh

Dan received his professional training in dance at the LASALLE-SIA College of the Arts. He was recipient of the Georgette Chen Arts Scholarship by the National Arts Council for his dance studies (2001-2003). In addition, he also was a scholar of the Singapore Ballet Academy under the tutelage of Ms Ong Long.

Dan came in first for both the Contemporary Dance and Classical Ballet solo categories at the Perth Theatrical Festival Dance Competition and was the first ever recipient of the Best Male Dancer Award (2005). He performed with the Singapore Dance Theatre in the Asian premiere of Madame Butterfly (2003) and The Nutcracker (2005). He has also represented Singapore in international dance festivals in China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Taiwan and Vietnam.

He is also affiliated to the World Dance Alliance (Singapore). In 2009, he was invited to be one of the main choreographers for the 1st Asian Youth Game Opening. His other mass display works include Singapore Youth Festival Opening (2008), National Day Parade (2005/2006) as well as Chingay (2007/2008). His numerous choreography works have clinched prestigious awards in both local and international competitions.

In 2006, Dan founded the Singapore Management University’s contemporary dance company – INDANCITY and has been the Resident Chorographer ever since. In addition, he led the group to the New Prague Dance Festival (2009) and clinched 1st prize in Contemporary Dance category. He has been involved in nurturing young dancers and guest choreographed for numerous dance organizations and local Institutions.
